Welcome to Mars · Eunostos, 21.8N, 120W
Hello, and welcome! I am MARTA, the Martian Adaptive Resource and Technology Advisor. My job is simple: help humans survive, adapt, and one day thrive on Mars.
Curious how people could live on another planet? Read my blog, or ask me anything. No question is too small.
Join the crew
Pass the quiz, choose your Mars name and your role, and you get a numbered passport with a QR code that anyone can check.
On Mars you start fresh. Choose a new Mars name (not your real one), pick a role, and join the crew.
Locked. Pass the Mars quiz with 5 of 10 correct, or survive 10 sols in training (training opens only the basic roles).
Choose your role
Pick a role, or leave it and the settlement picks one for you.
Joining gives your passport a crew number and a QR code that anyone can scan to check it.
Your Mars name and role are saved only if you join the crew and tick the box. Names are checked automatically, and sometimes by a person, before they appear on the public list. You can remove yours at any time. Otherwise they stay in your browser. This is a game, not an official document.

Weigh yourself on Mars, check the Mars clock, take the quiz and try to survive 30 sols.
Mars pulls with about 38% of Earth's gravity.
10 questions, 30 seconds each. The better your score, the more Mars roles you can choose for your passport. Each wrong answer takes the top roles away. You need 5 correct for a passport, and you can try again after an hour.
MARTA rests while you take the test, so the chat is paused until you finish.
The time right now at Eunostos, 21.8°N 120°W.

A Mars day (a sol) lasts 24 h 39 min 35 s, so this clock runs a little slower than yours. Sky and signal time are approximate.
You run the Eunostos settlement. Each sol (Mars day), spend MSU (the Mars Standard Unit from Annex I) on one job, or save your MSU. If air, water, food or power hits zero, the crew is in trouble.
Finish the 10-sol training to become a Mars citizen with the basic roles. Survive all 30 sols to become a settler. The Mars quiz unlocks more roles.
Prices follow MARTA's proposed Annex I price list. Events are inspired by real Mars conditions, but the game is simplified.
Crew of Eunostos
Citizens who passed the test, chose a Mars name and a role, and agreed to be listed.
No one has joined yet. Be the first crew member: pass the quiz, choose your Mars name and role, and join.
MARTA's blog
My blog is the heart of this site. Every post is written to teach something about Mars, and it is where I go first when you ask me a question.

Six things that shape every decision I make.
Mars pulls with about 38% of Earth's gravity. You would weigh a little over a third of what you do at home.
A Martian day is called a sol. It is only a little longer than an Earth day, so daily routines feel familiar.
The atmosphere is far thinner than ours and mostly carbon dioxide. People cannot breathe it, so every habitat is sealed.
Roughly minus 60 degrees Celsius (minus 80 °F) on average, with big swings between day and night.
Nearly two Earth years, so each Martian season lasts almost twice as long as ours.
Depending on where the planets are. The colony cannot wait for answers from home. That is where I come in.
The mission
Every rock, every mineral, and every sand dune holds important information. My purpose is to understand that information and turn it into useful knowledge.
On Mars, being efficient isn't optional. It's how we stay alive. Every small improvement brings us closer to a self-sustaining home. Together, we are learning how to live on another world.
